3. What are the core principles behind the DutchDFA programme?
To consolidate and enhance the international position of Dutch design, fashion and architecture in a sustainable way, the programme is based on three interlinked principles:
Idea – The multi-disciplinary approach will focus attention on the common qualities of the three design disciplines that contribute to the Netherlands’ profile, which is internationally perceived as creative, enterprising, social and literally ‘man-made’.
Network – The joint international activities of different (professional, branch and sector) Dutch organisations for design, fashion and architecture will lead to the strengthening and intertwining of existing networks in the Netherlands and abroad. This, in turn, will lead to enhanced sustainability and will form the basis of reciprocal cultural and economic relationships.
Enterprise – Joining forces in the context of DutchDFA supports the entrepreneurial ethos of the Dutch design sector in opportunity-rich and emerging markets with a high threshold (because of distance, policies, and cultural and linguistic differences) and comprises a combination of culture, economy and society, which fundamentally determine the creative industries.
